I installed xmms2 and esperanza. I ran xmms2d as root (despite the message that it was a bad idea) and when I started esperanza and added a folder, xmms2d died.
Trying to investigate the problem I ran apt-get install strace, but apt-get segfaulted.
I discovered that some other binaries were segfaulting too, and /var/lib/dpkg/available file got broken.
Running dpkg -l fires an error:
dpkg-query: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/available' near line 17382:
 invalid package name (character `' not allowed (only letters, digits and characters `-+._'))
I pressed ctrl+alt+backspace to reset KDE, then I tried to restart kdm and the kernel bug message appeared.
I attached the dmesg output collected before reboot when the bug appeared.
