Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686
Version: 2.6.24-3
Severity: normal

root@kodama:/home/joey>hwclock --show --debug
hwclock from util-linux-ng 2.13.1
Using /dev interface to clock.
Last drift adjustment done at 1202584540 seconds after 1969
Last calibration done at 1202584540 seconds after 1969
Hardware clock is on UTC time
Assuming hardware clock is kept in UTC time.
Waiting for clock tick...
select() to /dev/rtc to wait for clock tick timed out
...got clock tick
zsh: exit 1 hwclock --show --debug

Happens every time. Notice that the clock tick seems (?) to arrive
just after it gives up. This only happens if I'm using 2.6.24.

Here's how it looks in strace:

open("/dev/rtc", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 3
ioctl(3, RTC_UIE_ON, 0) = 0
select(4, [3], NULL, NULL, {5, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
write(2, "select() to /dev/rtc to wait for"..., 54select() to /dev/rtc to wait for clock tick timed out
) = 54
ioctl(3, RTC_UIE_OFF, 0) = 0
close(3) = 0
write(1, "...got clock tick\n", 18...got clock tick
) = 18
exit_group(1)

Hardware is a Fujitsu p7120 lifebook.
