Bug#495009: closed by Bastian Blank <waldi@debian.org> (Re: Bug#495009: please update vserver patch and re enable it)

hi,

The support for featuresets != none in linux-patch-debian-X is not
official.

I somehow filed to understand yours replay. I guess you filed to understand my request too. So lets try again:

* I filed the bug report on linux-patch-debian-2.6.26 because I read somewhere filing bug reports on source packages is not a good practice

* 2.6.25-7 [testing] has vs2.3.0.34.11.patch, it is enabled, and produces linux-image-2.6.25-2-vserver-* deb's (I like them)

* 2.6.26-2 [unstable] has the same patch and it is disabled.

* according to berlt, this patch should apply on 2.6.26 too (I did not tried this) and vise versa, the most curent vs2.3.0.35.diff should safely apply onto 2.6.25 (in case lenny will ship with this one)

* despite all this "safely apply or not", vs2.3.0.35.diff has the most recent bug fixes, tested upstream on stock 2.6.26.2 and is the most feature complete release

* unless there are restrictions imposed by lenny freeze, I see no reason why next upload to unstable can't have vs2.3.0.35.diff instead of vs2.3.0.34.11.patch and vserver kernel images re enabled. even if freeze is the reason - I am ready to stand for my reasoning in front of release managers and ask for permission to update the patch...

* I know you guys are busy - so am I, but I am eager to try and help on this particular feature.
