Bug#415239: gpf from powernow-k8: hardware fault
This problem turned out to be a hardware fault/BIOS bug anyway.
The Athlon 64 x2 939 devices can't support 4 DIMMs at 400MHz, only up to
2 (or 3). 4 devices needs to be slowed down to 333MHz. I expect this is
due to excessive capacitance inside the chip.
The BIOS is supposed to be aware of these and slow down the memory if it
detects 4 DIMMs, but my Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 isn't doing that. I
overrode the settings and forced 333MHz and now it's stable.
Weird fault.
