System is still running, so it's not that serious, but still annoying.
I've searched a bit and found a patch, that might fix this, it's
applied in current Linus tree:

fixed upstream in 2.6.19, which never was in unstable thus
marking as fixed of 2.6.20.

just an harmless bug and thus not candidate for backport,
checkout etch + half that has 2.6.24
