I know the prism54 driver is old, doesn't support WPA, and has plenty of
other problems. But the p54pci driver is not a complete replacement for it.
The softmac firmware you have to use (even with old fullmac cards) doesn't
allow you to do master mode.

Please do not disable it unless it doesn't work at all anymore.

prism54 is no longer maintained.

and no we can't enable both new and old driver.
please report your p54 bugs if they still apply
on 2.6.26-rc8 (see trunk http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel )
