Bug#482314: [linux-image-2.6.24-1-amd64] soft lockup

   Hell-o!

  On 05/21/2008 09:05 PM, *maximilian attems* wrote, and I quote (in part):

as it seems easily reproducible can you please also test latest upstream
2.6.26-rc3-git3
-> http://photon.itp.tuwien.ac.at/~mattems/

  Well, with...

Linux version 2.6.26-rc3-amd64 (Debian 2.6.26~rc3-1~experimental.1) (maks@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080114 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-19)) #1 SMP Wed May 21 15:42:23 CEST 2008

(without fglrx, virtualbox, and acer_acpi modules)

... I have analogous troubles. System time is frozen (as I see on the KDE panel clock applet), and run-up again (but is not set up to correct value) only if I move with mouse pointer or if I pres any key. I don't see messages about soft lockup, now is syslog "full" (17 in last quarter of an hour) of this nice epic reports:

May 22 15:00:07 nomad kernel: [17188567.674368] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 bytes away.

  Something is wrong, and I do not know what...
I try flash bios to last version (from 1.18 to 1.20), run memtest for half of day (no problem reported), replace battery (I remember similar problems (but with windows) on other model of Aspire, and solution has been replacing of dying battery), but one and only solution of my problem is downgrade to 2.6.24-4... :^(

  (Please, excuse me for my czEnglish.)
