Package: linux-image-2.6.23-rc5-686
Version: 2.6.23~rc5-1~experimental.1~snapshot.9511
Severity: normal

Hi, snapshots 9473, 9500 and 9511 are causing a kernel panic (caps lock
and scroll lock flashing, everything else frozen) after some instances
of heavy network activity. The machine is a PII-266 Intel 440LX chipset
with Realtek 8139D network card.

Build environment for the kernel:

binutils-2.18-1
dpkg-1.14.6
dpkg-dev-1.14.6
gcc-4:4.2.1-6
gcc-3.3-base-1:3.3.6-15
gcc-3.4-3.4.6-6
gcc-3.4-base-3.4.6-6
gcc-4.1-4.1.2-16
gcc-4.1-base-4.1.2-16
gcc-4.1-doc-4.1.1.nf3-1
gcc-4.1-locales-4.1.2-16
gcc-4.2-4.2.1-5
gcc-4.2-base-4.2.1-5
gcc-doc-4:4.1.1.nf3
gcc-doc-base-4.1.1.nf3-1
libc6-2.6.1-4
libc6-dev-2.6.1-4
libc6-i686-2.6.1-4
make-3.81-3
perl-5.8.8-7
this was built on a machine with the kernel:
Linux victoria 2.6.23-rc4 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Sep 6 00:33:47 CST 2007
i686 GNU/L
inux
using the compiler:
gcc version 4.2.1 (Debian 4.2.1-5)

If there is any more information that I could provide or there are any
ways to help narrow down the problem I would be happy to do so. I do
*not* have earlier 2.6.23-rc5 kernels lying around that didn't cause
this problem. Currently I'm running kernel 2.6.23-rc4 until this problem
goes away.
