On Lenny, I check by Kpowersave, by /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state, and by LED of my laptop that show me different collors (blue is full charged, and yellow is not fully charged).
On Windows I check it in Control Pannel and with LED of my laptop.
And in general, I can't see how acpi-support has anything to do with this problem. Are you suspending to disk when you say "poweroff"? How are you doing it?
K Menu --> Close section --> Shutdown. NOT suspending.
Have you tried on sid/lenny with an etch kernel? Because if anything is responsible of this, it would rather be the kernel...
