the wiki page i gave you the link ask to test *latest* available,
so please see if you can reproduce errors in linux image 2.6.25
from unstable installs just fine in testing.

we don't disable functionality based on one "random" report,
i may still need more coffee, but i didn't see yet a dmesg
proof of misbehaving edac modules.
and if they do don't be shy to file upstream report in
bugzilla.kernel.org with dmesg and lspci output.
that would be the quickest way to get to a fix.

ps concerning irc you might want to google "screen irssi"
that way you can stay connected to a irc channel for
non interactive conversation and channel listening.
