Package: linux-source-2.6.15
Version: 2.6.15-3
Severity: normal

Hello.

I've always used CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_SATA (support of older SATA
controller as /dev/hd*) with 2.6 kernel, because CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX
(/dev/sd* for SATA) is too much slower with my ICH5 SATA controller
(mother board is an Intel D865PERL[K]); even standard Debian kernel as
linux-image-2.6.15-1-686-smp (and older) is/was slow.

With kernel 2.6.15 CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX is at the same time slower but I
can't use CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_SATA because I get very often:

irq 169: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)

Disabling IRQ #169

and systems is blocked for some seconds during this error. "irqpool"
doesn't solve that problem (kernel hangs). Any suggestion (to solve
"nobody cared" problem or - maybe better - to use my controller in a
"standard fast mode" with CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX)?

Thank you, Leonardo Macchia.
