Irqpoll is not fun for daily operations: the system becomes far too slow.

Furthermore a cdrom window (sound juicer) keeps popping up now, and hdc
failures are being spewed all over the place. I suspect the via interrupt
is now being interpreted as a spurious hdc interrupt or something.

Sounds good on principle, though the actual effect would seem dubitable.
