Bug#432124: postinst doesn't grok grub2?

Package: linux-image-2.6.21-2-amd64
Version: 2.6.21-5
Severity: normal

Observe:

| $ nl -b a /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.21-2-amd64.postinst | grep -A 9 sub.run_lilo
|   1247  sub run_lilo (){
|   1248    my $ret;
| 1249 # Try and figure out if the user really wants lilo to be run --
| 1250 # since the default is to run the boot laoder, which is ! grub -- but
| 1251 # the user may be using grub now, and not changed the default.
|   1252
| 1253 # So, if the user has explicitly asked for the loader to be run, or
| 1254 # if there is no postinst hook, or if there is no grub installed --
| 1255 # we are OK. Or else, we ask.
|   1256    if ($explicit_do_loader || (! ($postinst_hook && -x '/sbin/grub')))  {

The GRUB2 package grub-pc does not provide /sbin/grub.  I installed a
vanilla-ish system with /boot on LVM, so debian-installer used lilo
instead of grub. I installed grub-pc, but didn't purge lilo. On
upgrading the kernel, the above postinst decided to blow away my grub2
MBR with a lilo one.

I don't pretend to understand the full logic of run_lilo, but this
seems a dangerous behaviour. Perhaps grub-pc should be setting up
post hooks in /etc/kernel-img.conf?
