Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-686
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch1
Severity: important

During installation, the package displays irrelevant and panicky
information about needed changes in the LILO configuration files
while grub is the standard debian boot loader.

Detecting if Grub or LILO is the boot loader is easy to do and
should be done before this unnecessairy information screen is
displayed.

Further more the installer could check by itself if the
needed changes is already included in the configuration file
instead of requiring a user to do so.

agreed, but aboves template comes from kernel-package.
it is the typical overly verbose sort of technical
k-p talk. that is on the way to get reformed.

well yeah.

not much inside here, you want to add:
do_initrd = yes
warn_reboot = no
postinst_hook = /usr/sbin/update-grub
postrm_hook   = /usr/sbin/update-grub

those debconf templates will not change for the already released
Etch, but we plan deep changes for lenny,
so no need to keep the bug open.

anyway thanks for the info
