Bug#422920: usplash is started, but not stopped
Package: usplash
Version: 0.4-43-2
Severity: important
The initramfs-tools script starts usplash unless the kernel is booted
with "nosplash", but the init script inconsistently stops it only if the
kernel is booted with "splash". Therefore, if the kernel is booted with
neither parameter, usplash is started, and never stopped.
Here, that prevented me from being able to log in, as it fought with xdm
and xdm failed to set up a working graphics mode. I got a black screen
and switching vcs did not help. sshing in, fixing the init script, and
starting (stopping) usplash, fixed that.
