Bug#456210: [powerpc] CONFIG_PMAC_BACKLIGHT no longer enabled
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.23-1
Severity: important

The option description seems misleading; even pbbuttonsd seems unable to change
the backlight level on my PowerBook5,8 with it disabled, and I haven't found
any other way to change it. It seems to be at 100% all the time, which is
pretty bad in general, especially on battery.
The fact that the line
radeonfb: Backlight initialized (radeonbl0)
is now missing from the kernel output probably confirms that this option is
required for backlight control to work at all on PowerMacs. Whether
CONFIG_PMAC_BACKLIGHT_LEGACY is still needed I'm not sure though.
