I'm sure that Ubuntu or fedoraa is probably already doing some work to
get it ported (iif has not done it already) to 2.6.23. I think it
would be worth to take a look there and see if they have it done.

maks, could you apply it if we manage to find a patch for 2.6.23?

It doesn't change the bug regarting the regression about the features
when comparing with etch kernel. ;-)
