My server (PC clone) works without it. However, if I see that initrd images 
created in Debian supported way do load thermal.ko as the very first module, 
I think there must be a reason for this.

Maybe other kernel or initramfs-tools package maintainers, not only Bastian 
Blank, could share their point of view?
