Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.91b
Severity: critical

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When booting, many segmentation faults are encountered and then
an ash shell prompt is given. The log complains from not being able
to mount /dev/hda2 on /root, but within the shell executing the command
mount -t ext3 /dev/hda2 /root will work.

The kernel-image package installation script seems to regenerate initrd
images for all kernel images. This prevents booting unless falling back
to old/bakuped initrd images. These will boot normally with the same kernel

As the old initrd tools are not available, this failure may be fatale for
many systems, that's why I consider this bug critical.

yeah klibc is fucked on sparc, news at 11
closing as duplicate bug report, see #399724
