I hope you will include in the next kernel-image the bootsplash support patch, or build two diffrent packages: both one with and one without the bootsplash patch support in the .deb

that is an userspace question and not a kernel bug,
thus closing.

you may want to test in testing/unstable:
apt-get install usplash
