Package: linux-image-2.6.18-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.18-2
Severity: important

From time to time if I boot my amd64 machine with its three SATA
disks over which a RAID1 provides the root disk, the kernel panics
while executing S10checkroot.sh

The panic relates to libata, but I cannot get more information
without copying the entire screen by hand. I cannot scroll back.
Only a hard reset works.

Right after the panic, the device name of the third of the three
SATA disks is echoed to the terminal with two spaces up front:

  /dev/sdc

and some times, it then says "Activating swap", but most of the time
it does not get this far.

There are no problems with the latest 2.6.17 kernel in sid.

I'd be happy to help pinpoint the problem if people held my hand.
