Bug#418812: kernel-source-2.6.8: copying to dvd ram results in system freeze
Package: kernel-source-2.6.8
Version: 2.6.8-16sarge6
Severity: normal
I tried to copy /usr (meaning a big number of files and directories)
on a dvd-ram which was formatted with udf.
(mkudffs --media-type=dvdram /dev/hdc)
The command used was cp -a and executed by the root user.
After a time, the system started to freeze,
first the x-applications, later everything else too.
Since there wasn't any reaction to keybord,
the final solution was a hard reset.
After this, I tried once more, with the same result.
