I asked the submitter but didn't get an answer yet, so I'm writing
to the other people who reported the problem:
Are others experiencing this bug able to boot in a normal time
using nosmp?
Also, which chipset do others use?
Hi,
after several testing i got these results: :)
- booting with kernel 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP with the nosmp option does
not work cause, as Mohammed, i get an "hda: lost interrupt" error.
- if i use the acpi=off option the pc works at a normal speed but (of
course) the acpi interface does not work. also the wireless interface
(that works without acpi=off) does not work. (why are wireless and
acpi related?)
- if i use no options, acpi does not work and everything works very
slowly (while booting, the first thing to be slow is the hda
recognition), but the wireless adapter does work.
