Hree is a patch to /dev/null is currently created by udev-udeb. If /lib/debian-installer-startup.d/S02udev is not the first script run at boot time then some other package needs to create static /dev/null and /dev/console (if for some reason they cannot be part of the root image). -- ciao, Marco
