Yes, that patch was from yours truly.

Previously initramfs-tools would activate the LVM VG which contained the root LV, so if swap was on the same VG, it would be activated as a side-effect (and this is indeed how things are laid out with partman-auto-*).

The patch allows root and swap to be on different LVM VG's and should be included in the next initramfs-tools version after 0.64 (which is in incoming right now) according to maks on IRC.
