Re: no dma on ide with current .config

Please file a bugreport (against the source package linux-2.6), instead
of addressing the mailinglist directly.

Generally, I personally recommend using the commandline tool reportbug
to file bugreports, as it automagically includes additional valuable
info.

Specifically, please do *not* respond directly to this email, but
instead file a bugreport yourself, and include the response there.

This is most probably related to the driver modules loaded
automatically in the initrd, which again depends on the ramdisk
generator used.

Please provide the output of the following commands:

  lsmod

  dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.15-1-686

  cat /etc/kernel-img.conf

Also. please check which of the packages initramfs-tools and yaird you
have installed, and which versions of those packages (Personally I
use aptitude in fulscreen mode for that - don't know the command to get
that info on the commandline).

That remark does not really apply to official Debian kernel packages,
which make sure to generate and use an initrd.

Also, it is not related to DMA working, but rather for the IDE devices
to be accessible at all: If it failed, booting would not succeed at all.
