Package: udev
Version: 0.087-2

I have unstable Debian. I upgraded to new version of udev (from udev_0.087-1_i386.deb).
The system cannot boot with message like "Kernel panic, cannot found root system".
After reinstallation of udev, initramfs-tools, linux-2.6-k7 and linux-image-2.6.15-1-k7 is all ok.
I think that missing was automatic reconfiguring of initramfs-tools after udev upgrade.
Sorry for not complete information, next time I will try reconfigure only one package and reboot...
