hm indeed the bug itself is not closed.

can you please verify that this bug is still relevant for your decision?
#341181 is about ia64 shared klibc.
since klibc 1.1.15-4 we build static libs for ia64 as workaround.
so initramfs-tools should just work, that klibc version is known
to work to work on ia64 ubuntu.
