So, you're saying this is a problem with a broken BIOS?

I can confirm, that the CD-ROM in general works. Further I know that
these very messages did not occur on 2.6.14 or 1.6.16.

If you're not willing to go further into this, cause it is the fault
of the BIOS feel free to close the bug.
