Bug#402475: Debian bcm43xx freezes the system
Package: linux-source-2.6.18
Severity: critical
Justification: freezes the system
I already posted it in the relevant bug report (#392065), but since nobody seems
to care, let's do a brand new bug report, just for fun:
/* Debian changelog */
bcm43xx: Add full netdev watchout timeout patch. (closes: 392065)
* Add stable release 2.6.18.2:
- Remove not yet released, revert the included patches.
- Keep aboves bcm43xx fix, it's more complete.
/* /Debian changelog */
It would be nice not to mess with the bcm43xx driver, especially when you don't
know what you are doing. Debian last version (2.6.18-7) is completely broken:
/* LOG */
Nov 11 13:03:41 neobox kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth1: transmit timed out
Nov 11 13:03:41 neobox kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:02.0
disabled
Nov 11 13:03:41 neobox kernel: PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:02.0 (0000 -> 0002)
Nov 11 13:03:41 neobox kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:02.0[A] -> GSI 18
(level, low) -> IRQ 19
Nov 11 13:03:41 neobox kernel: bcm43xx: Controller restarted
Nov 11 13:17:27 neobox syslogd 1.4.1#18: restart.
/* END LOG */
Please keep track of the official branch, which works well since 2.6.18.2.
