Note that you are running a kernel with a large number of security
vulnerabilities - I strongly suggest upgrading to the latest version
of sarge and tracking the avaiable security updates.

I've no reason to believe that the latest sarge version fixes the
issue you described below, however, it'd be more interesting if you were
able to reproduce when running this version.

fwiw, I've only been able to find one other report similar to this -
its interesting to note that it was also a kernel with PREEMPT being
enabled:
