On all 2.6.17 and below kernels, the JMicron JMB363 controller, found on the ASUS P5B motherboard, does not work. As a result, installing Debian is not possible (unable to mount CD during install).

Then let's close this report as Debian installer was just switched to 
2.6.18 for i386 and will be very soon for other architectures.
Please test using the new installer (new images using 2.6.18 should be 
available starting Tuesday) and if you have any problems, feel free to 
file a new installation report.
