Bug#394194: usplash: Fails to show splash and instead prints "chdir(): File or directory not found"

Package: usplash
Version: 0.3e
Severity: important

I tried to use usplash, but all it does is give me weird "chdir(): File
or directory not found" messages. Shutdown sequence is accompanied with
the non-standard "[ ok ]" string at the very right, so I guess the
package installed alright.

I have seen this behavior both with and without the
debian-edu-artwork-usplash package installed, so it's not a question of
additional artwork.

Where is the bootsplash promised by this package?

Regards,
André
