Bug#392015: Request for openvz patched binary kernels.

Package: linux-latest-2.6
Severity: wishlist

Hi

I would like to have kernel binary images with the openvz patch
applied. I have just a few days ago added support for 2.6.18
to the kernel-patch-openvz and I have verified that it build on
at least i386 (actually 686). I did a make menuconfig before
building in order to verify that openvz is actually enabled and
it was. Do you need to handle that in a special way?

I have seen that such binary packages exist for example vserver
(that I'm also the maintainer of) and support for openvz would
be really nice. Upstream would be very happy to have that support
in Debian as well.

The kernel-patch-openvz works on i386 (including all subarches),
amd64 and ia64.

So my question is:
1) Can this be added?
2) Do you want a patch (I'm not fully sure how to create that
as it seem to follow some special rules...)?
3) Do you think it is possible to get this kind of binary
packages in before etch is out?

Please tell me what you think about this, if you have some special
rules, and what I can help with to get this done.

Regards,

// Ola
