Bug#391955: random freezes/panics related to network traffic

Package: linux-image-2.6.18-1-686
Version: 2.6.18-2
Severity: important

If I boot 2.6.18 on my X40 laptop connected to the net via the e1000
chip, the machine randomly locks up. Yesterday it crashed three
times the moment I clicked on the 'save' button of the Debian wiki,
once when I clicked the 'lock' button on the workrave break window,
and once from the console in single-user mode. This latter crash was
the only time I could get more information about the freeze and it
looked like a panic while processing network traffic. Again, I could
not scroll or otherwise extract more information.
