Bug#390038: linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8-smp: purge gives an error

Package: linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8-smp
Version: 2.6.16-18
Severity: normal

I get this, the same that I get while trying to purge
linux-image-2.6.15-1-amd64-generic:

# dpkg --purge linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8-smp

subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 128
Errors were encountered while processing:
 linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8-smp

Since the postrm script is written in Perl, i don't know of a simple way
to debug it and see where it fails. I gladly accept suggestions for
diagnosing this problem.
