ctrl-c shouldn't make any difference since these are kernel messages.
However, you will eventually get a prompt & should be able to ssh in
and install the 2.6.17 kernel from sid. reboot again, and things
should be fine.

This will go away when 2.6.17 enters etch - the installer needs no
additional fixes.
