Please be a little bit more careful.
The bug opens with:
! After switching from a 2.4.27 to 2.6.8 kernel for an old desktop I use
                  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
! as a server, I noticed the following messages on console and kern.log.

Followed by:
! kernel: Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.8-2-686
! kernel: Loaded 27390 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.6.8-2-686.

However, the code _is_ in fact dead as the bug concerns devfs.

The bug was left open on purpose by the kernel team as it is still valid
as a reference to Sarge users.

I'll leave it to you to reopen or not.

P.S. Thanks for doing the bug triage, it's boring and thankless work :-P
