Package: initramfs-tool
Version: 0.53c

After installing etch using a usb harddisk, it seems there is a problem at the boottime as /dev/sda1 takes to long to be detected and when root wants to mount it hasn't been detected yet.

According to mail from Maximilian Attems I tried:

a)
echo 'echo "udev: all devices should be up."' >> /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/udev

dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.15-1-486 (was this needed?)

without any difference. Still fails. After eliminating the previous change I tried

b)
echo 'sleep 0.5' >> /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/udev

dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.15-1-486 (was this needed?)

without any difference either. Still fails.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux Etch, kernel 2.6.15-1-486 and planning to upgrade to sid soon.

cheers,

Carlos Villegas

udev 0.093-1 is in testing, initramfs-tools 0.69b, 2.6.15-1-486
should is superseeded by 2.6.16-1-486 or better in unstable
2.6.17-1-486.

so thanks for your feedback, closing your report.
next time please learn how to close your bug report appropriately :)
