- Subject: kernel-image-2.6.6-powerpc: kernel is unusable on non yaboot using Chrp machines, please provide a compatible kernel image
- From: Sven Luther <luther@debian.org>

Package: kernel-image-2.6.6-powerpc
Version: 2.6.6-5
Severity: grave
The 2.6.6 powerpc kernel is unusable as is on any chrp box not using
yaboot, since the kernel package only provides the yaboot elf vmlinux,
and not the zImage.chrp as it used to do on 2.4 kernels. An unsuspecting
user upgrading the kernel will thus find an unbootable box as a result.
Please fix that.
I wonder if this should be severity critical though, as it makes the
whole system unusable.
Friendly,
Sven Luther

Well, another bug which is fixed since ages, thanks to the new mkvmlinuz, and
kernel-package modularizable /etc/kernel/*.d scripts.
