Package: kernel-image-2.6-386 Version: 101 Severity: normal I'm reporting this here as I'm not sure if I should report separate bugs for 2.6.9 and 2.6.10. My ACPI seems to be quite dumb when using these kernels. The battery status, to be specific. I booted my 2.6.10-1-386 kernel and had this: /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1 kov@alface $ cat state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 3584 mAh present voltage: 16640 mV Then I unplugged my AC cable and everything continued the same. The LCD didn't have the light lowered and proc didn't notice a change. I plugged it again, unplugged and the GNOME battery applet did notice that change, the screen got darker, but state continued the same. I left it that way for some time, the battery monitor was still showing 100%, the state proc file contained the same info as above. Then I plugged the cable again and the GNOME monitor showed 94%, the screen got brighter and state was like this: /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1 kov@alface $ cat state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 3392 mAh present voltage: 16032 mV I left it plugged and then unplugged it again after some time. Screen got darker, battery monitor showed 99% and state was like this: ~ kov@alface $ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 3552 mAh present voltage: 16224 mV This happens with 2.6.9 and 2.6.10 kernels. Does not happen with 2.6.8 ones. What kind of information can I provide to help debug this problem? I've got a compaq/hp nx9010, as I said. Sorry I forgot I had filled this bug. No, I no longer have problems since around 2.6.14!
