Package: linux-image-2.6.15-1-686
Version: 2.6.15-8

I'm currently using an up-to-date Etch on my IBM Thinkpad T21. The only
way I can successfully talk to an external modem connected to the serial
port is to disable acpi. When acpi is disabled, the modem works
perfectly - I can interrogate it using minicom and dialling out using
pon works perfectly. However, when acpi is enabled, I can't get any
response from the modem at all - I can start minicom, but the usual ATI
commands return nothing. Here's some debug info:

A) WITH ACPI DISABLED:

Please let me know if there is any better way I can debug this problem,
other than just saying "I can only talk to my modem with acpi disabled".

Thanks, Hammy Hamster

Ooops, my fault - the serial port was disabled in the bios. It turns out
that if you don't use acpi, having the serial port disabled in the bios
is NOT a problem! Now that I've started using acpi, I needed to enable
the serial port in the bios.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, Hammy.
