Bug#358607: linux-image-2.6.16-1-686: /dev/input missing

Try adding the following to /etc/kernel-img.conf:

  ramdisk = /usr/sbin/mkinitrd.yaird

Afterwards, run the following command:

  dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.16-1-686


If that works, the bug is in initramfs-tools (the ramdisk generator
currently used by default), not the kernel package itself.

You may still want to switch back to using initramfs-tools after the
bug has been fixed. You can read more on the differences betweeen the
