It seems that's related to the device/driver. I try the same experience with a 128Mb USB key USB2.0 certified, and it works well. I try with a Card Reader USB1.1 (don't have the references under the hand) and a 1Gb Flash Card and then the whole things is reseted, killing the root FS ... I read the previous bus rescan = bad issue in the bug tracker, and that's perhaps similar ... I will try tomorrow to test the system with the debian compiled 2.6.8 to see if I found the same problem ... Regards, Benoît.
