Just a followup on this bug. The problem reported has been fixed adequately, even discovered that the 2.6.8 kernel also now boots once I got the mkinitrd to re-build the initrd.img Identical files being made(same size), seems something changed for the better. To you Steve and the Rest of the Kernel team, you deserve a great big THANK YOU for your efforts.
