Timo, as you guessed this is a separate issue. I failed booting a
Debian 2.6.8 kernel with support for my megaraid controller, and I
think this is a known problem with 2.6.8 which is solved by newer
kernels (this problem is due to the module split of the megaraid
support, 2.6.8 is missing modules to support megaraid2 in the new
scheme). I did not check the Debian BTS for issues with megaraid2 and
linux 2.6.8, but you're welcome to file a bug if this wasn't reported.
