Bug#302716: dpkg screws up GRUB's menu.lst

Shall I reassign this bug to 'kernel-package'? If so, can you
describe what should be done to fix it? Maybe a comment "the
following line is significant"?

I can see that when dpkg installs new kernel, it calls 'update-grub' script to modify menu.lst.

So, possible solutions that come to mind are

- mark the 'kopts' line in menu.lst with clear warning that it needs adjusting when someone moves his root partition ( although that is probably obvious to anyone who takes a look at this line - the problem is however that people do not know they need to take a look there ) - make update-grub aware of where's the currently mounted root partition and make it give user a warning if that does not match 'kopts'
