i have a USB handset and it used to work in about 2.6.8.

Cyberphone Handse] on usb-0000:00:07.2-1
2.6.10 the microphone works (wavrecord) but playback does not, which
i can confirm by recording on the usb device and playing it back via
my laptop's i810 soundchip.
also, when running kmix / kamix, both the speaker and the microphone
appear on the "output" page!
i mention this in case it's something being incorrectly reported
by the kernel driver (or the device itself...)
