Debian Sarge kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686 Dell Inspiron 8000
Hi,
I have a problem with the kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686 on a Dell Inspiron 8000
laptop.
I am just installing my laptop with Sarge. I have not installed X11/Gnome
yet, I'm just running i "console-mode" for the moment.
When I started the installation I had the kernel-image-2.4.27-1-686 as boot
kernel. Later on I also installed the newer 2.4.27-2-686 kernel. When I
boot with 2.4.27-2-686 the machine hangs after 5 miuntes if I'm not using
the console, with is a problem when I login via SSH.
If I reboot and start with 2.4.27-1-686 the machine runs fine without need
of using the console to keep the machine from hanging.
There is no log, no error messages when the machine hangs it just dies.
CTRL-ALT-DEL won't work, I have to use the power button to restart the
machine.
Thanks,
PS. I'm not on the list, please give me a personal reply.
