Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686
Severity: normal

i have upgraded to 2.6.8-1-686 and i find that k3b no longer runs as an
ordinary user - even though it used to work fine on 2.6.7.

an strace of root running k3b and a comparative strace of an ordinary
user shows that an attempt to perform an ioctl CDROM_SEND_PACKET on
/dev/hdc fails as ordinary user but not as root.

k3b therefore cannot proceed, because it determines somehow that
/dev/hdc is nonexistent.

yes, permissions on /dev/hdc were not altered (they are set to
rw-rw-rw)

... what gives?
